Wooden Boxes
I have been lucky in my many years of looking for fly tying
and fly fishing products to run across some great people
and real characters. The wooden fly boxes on this page
are made by my good friend Gary Armitage.
Gary works with me as a Train Dispatcher, but is also a
valued partner and friend. Gary is, in my opinion, also a
very modest and humble master woodworker. His latest
project is a pulpit for his church.
The woods range from Walnut to Maple to Padauk and
other exotics. Each box uses barrel hinges and rare earth
magnets for closures.
Trust me when I tell you that you cannot tell which side of
the box to open as they are put together so well.
Prices on the boxes include a cloth bag. I was putting
foam in the boxes until I got some folks asking for cork or
felt. If you wish to order one, I will include two flat foam
inserts to place in the box. What you do from there is
entirely up to you.
The boxes come in two sizes:
Large - 8" High x 4 1/4" Wide x 7/8" Deep
Small - 5 7/8" High x 3 1/2" Wide x 3/4" Deep
Enjoy the pictures of some beautiful woodworking and a
very nice fly box.
